Apple unveils the new 4-inch iPhone SE

The new iPhone SE is powered by an A9 processor — just like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus that Apple introduced in September. The powerful internals represent a major leap forward compared to the aging iPhone 5S, as now the company's smaller-sized handset is essentially on equal footing with the larger iPhones. 9to5Mac has for weeks been reporting that this would be the case; as expected, the iPhone SE also features an M9 chip for motion tracking and to allow users to say "Hey Siri" to activate Apple's personal assistant.

iPhone SE announced: iPhone 6S specs, iPhone 5S size, $399 price

Another huge similarity between iPhone SE and the iPhone 6S is the camera; both contain the same 12-megapixel sensor that's capable of recording 4K video and shooting Live Photos. There are differences between the products elsewhere, however. The new 4-inch iPhone doesn't have a pressure-sensitive display or 3D Touch like Apple's bigger phones. But the iPhone SE does support Apple Pay, which can be used to make tap-to-pay purchases at retail stores and also in-app purchases.

Though the iPhone SE looks like the iPhone 5S, its internals have been completely overhauled to keep up with modern-day performance. The iPhone SE will cost $399 for a 16GB and $499 for a 64GB model. You'll also be able to buy it for $17/month. It'll be available in over 110 countries by the end of May.

8 Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

iPhone is one intelligent machine. From making calls to talking back (Siri), the iPhone packs in amazing features. The phone has so many features, be it amazing or small time, that it's hard to be aware of all of them. So here is a list of certain features that you probably didn't know about.

1. Siri Can Read Out E-mails

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

Siri might be one of the least used features on the iPhone, and probably, the most underrated as well. But actually, it is very intelligent. Apart from reading texts, voice tagging contacts and talking back, Siri can also read e-mails, and this is not widely known. Every time you receive a mail, you can command Siri to read it, and it will obey. It will read out the sender's name, the date/time of the message, and the subject line. You can also ask her if you have a new mail or not.

2. Shake To Delete Text Messages

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

Backspace deleting is too mainstream. On the iPhone, you can just shake your phone to delete what you just typed. When you want to undo what you have typed, just shake your phone and an undo option will appear. And same goes for redoing what you deleted by mistake.

3. iPhone Charges Twice As Fast On Airplane Mode

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

This is one of the least known facts about the iPhone and can actually save you a sticky situation. Just in case you are in a hurry and running out of battery, switch your phone to the airplane mode to charge your phone twice as faster.

4. You Can See Timestamps On Texts

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

Having a hard time figuring out how to check the timestamps on your messages? Look no further. Just open your inbox and swipe from right to left on the screen, and the timestamps will appear.

5. Double Tap "Shift" To Turn On Caps

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

So you have been hitting the shift arrow every time you wanted to type in capital letters. Well, majority of iPhone users do that. But here is how you don't have to do that. Next time you want to type a whole sentence in upper case, just double tap the shift key and caps would switch on. You can single tap the shift key to come back in lower case.

6. Turn Off In-App Purchases With Just One Button

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do
In-app purchasing is defined as paying to advance to higher levels in a game/app. Example -Candy Crush. In-App purchasing can get a bit out of control if you are into mobile gaming as the app lures you into paying money in order for you to advance onto more challenging levels. And if you too end up paying more than often and feel bad about it, then you can switch it off. Yes, just Go to Settings > General > Restrictions, Enable Restrictions, and scroll down to disable In-App Purchases. And the spending stops!

7. Click Photos With The Volume Rocker Or The Ear Phones

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

Yes, it's possible. You can use the volume buttons to click photos instead of using the on-screen button. Also, the volume control button on the ear phones can be used to click photos.

8. Designated Vibration

Things You Didn’t Know Your iPhone Could Do

Assigning different ring tones for different contacts is very commonplace, but did you know that iPhone can even assign different vibration patterns? Well, yes it can. In your contacts there is an option which lets you designate custom vibration for different contacts. This can be pretty useful if you keep your phone in the pocket, mostly.

You’ll Be Surprised To Know How Much Making An iPhone 6s Plus Actually Costs

The iPhone 6s Plus is a priced possession for many, to the extent that the ones who possess it, have to shell out a lot in the form of EMIs and other borrowings. But did you know that the actual cost of manufacturing an iPhone is less than one-third of the selling price?
Surprised? Well, IHS Technology, the world's leading source in research and analysis of technology, did a teardown of the costs that go in the manufacture of an iPhone 6s Plus unit. The findings are summarized below: (all the values are subjected to approximation)

The cost to manufacture an iPhone 6s Plus device, is only ₹17,000/-

While it sells at ₹51,000 which shows a whopping 300% mark-up on the price!

This statistic highlights how the tech giants continue to dominate the premium market.

The cost of the materials that go into making a 16-GB iPhone 6s Plus comes out to be ₹15,800!

This figure rises to ₹17,000, once the manufacturing costs are added.

The new 3D Touch feature in the iPhone 6s Plus, which is basically the screen, costs ₹3,580 and is the most expensive component of the phone!

The manufacturing cost of the cameras (both front and rear) is ₹1,530: the second most expensive component(s)!

Rear: 12 megapixels
Front: 8 megapixels

Apple charges more money for enhanced flash memory, the manufacturing cost of which is as low as ₹25 per gigabyte!

By that calculation, manufacturing a 64 GB iPhone is just ₹1,200 more than manufacturing a 16 GB phone; but users have to pay ₹7,000 more for a 64 GB than for a 16 GB phone.

Also, the iPhone takes about 24 hours to be assembled and the workers are just paid ₹120 an hour. Now that's sad!
